Red Hunter 2004 FALL TOUR

An old-fashioned traveler, his recordings come from everywhere he goes, a hostel in Thailand, a dive bar in Brooklyn, below a staircase in Austin, and recently at Black City Studios in Los Angeles. Last year he went on tour from LA to NYC and back, a complete DIY tour which resulted in radio play at colleges all over the country. Favoring unusual venues like old theaters, galleries, and churches, he is influenced by a wide assortment: Blind Willie Johnson, Tom Waits, Cab Calloway, Daniel Johnston, and Billie Holiday are some of the ones people commonly point out.

For the second time in a year, Red will tour to promote his latest recordings. This time, though, it is an unconventional release of four home-spun records at the same time (one of them is even a double-album) on the Whiskey & Apples label, over 40 songs in all. Each record has its own distinct setting. Couches by the Sea is like an opium hallucination, hypnotic and surreal, while You my Painkiller sounds like a vintage 1930s recording by a tired old prospector.
